The tower observation deck is open daily. Climb to the top for panoramic views over Zagreb's rooftops and beyond.
Watching the cannon is free! There is a small fee to climb the tower's observation deck.
Getting There
The shortest public transport ride in the world! Take it from Tomićeva street (off Ilica) straight up to the Upper Town. The tower is a 2-minute walk from the top station.
Walk up through the charming streets of the Upper Town via Radićeva street or the Stone Gate (Kamenita vrata). A lovely 10-15 minute stroll from the main square.
Take any tram to the main Ban Jelačić Square, then walk up to the Upper Town. Most Zagreb tram lines pass through the square.
Insider Tips
Arrive early. The cannon fires at exactly 12:00, but the area around Lotrščak Tower is beautiful. Come by 11:30 to explore the Strossmayer promenade — one of Zagreb's most scenic walkways with spectacular views over the lower city.
Bring earplugs (or don't). The cannon is loud — that's the point! If you're standing nearby, you'll feel the blast in your chest. Some visitors prefer to watch from a short distance. Others want the full experience up close.
Explore the Upper Town. While you're here, don't miss the nearby St. Mark's Church with its iconic tiled roof, the Croatian Parliament, and the Museum of Broken Relationships — one of Zagreb's most unique museums.
Combine with lunch. After the cannon fires, head down to Tkalčićeva street — a lively pedestrian strip packed with cafes and restaurants, perfect for a post-boom lunch.
